There are different grades of automotive films for windows.
1) Dyed window tint: The tint that is made with a polyester material with a liquid dye. It is applied in the inner material on the level of tint. The darker the tint is also called a limo tint. It has visible light transmission of 5 percent. A dyed tint is not so good at blocking UV ray emissions.
2) Metalized window tint: Metallic tint is the next level of window film. It helps to block ultraviolet rays. UVA and UVB are responsible for damaging surfaces including interior materials like leather, Plastic and rubber. Metalized window tint provides added strength to the window.
3) Hybrid dye/Metallic film: A mid grade tint blends the best of dye and metallic films. It helps in UV protection and improves clarity. The hybrid tint uses a combination of grey dye and titanium flakes.
4) Carbon color stable: A new kid on the window tint block is carbon color stable. This is a multi layered dye film with an infusion of carbon tint materials which adds strength and longevity to its lifecycle. The term color stable refers to using high quality dyes and polyester linings, that extends the life span and reduces the potential of discoloration.
5) Crystalline window tint: The crystalline window tint is the entry point to the greater heat resistance. This film usually has a high VLT rating and has exceptional IR blocking technology. It is quite effective at blocking all ultraviolet rays.
6) Ceramic window tint: It is a multiple layered film that uses microscopic ceramic particles that are non conductive to block UVA and UVB. The lack of metals in the film helps improve cell phone and electric device signal strength. When the Nano ceramic tint is infused with IR blocking technology then it reduces the heat entering into the vehicle.
